The Strandhotel Margaretha is a four-star hotel on Lake Wolfgangsee, run by the Vogler family in the third generation. It is located outside the vilage center of Sankt Wolfgang, approx. 100 m after the Schafbergbahn valley station and ferries dock, which was first opened in 1893 and re-opened in 2023. The special location with its panoramic view on the lake to the south and the silhouette of the mountains behind it is very popular and unique.
The hotel offers 35 individually furnished double rooms, which can be booked with breakfast included from April to October and from the end of November to Christmas. The seasonal opening times are adjusted to the current demand.
The character of a “beach hotel” has shaped the essence of our hotel from the very beginning.
The hotel's own beach is reserved only for hotel guests and consists of a lawn and a large wooden jetty. It is equipped with high-quality loungers, comfortable cushions and parasols. Rowing boats, SUPs, a changing room and various swimming aids are available free of charge.
From 2024, our new “Boathouse” can also be booked as a double room (see below).
Our hotel terrace is covered with an awning and is very popular with both in-house and à la carte guests in almost any weather and at all times of the day.
At any weather in the summer season “having breakfast, lunch or dinner with a lake view” is suitable on our covered lakeside terrace. It is ight next to our restaurant and is connected to it via large windows that can be opened if needed.
For hotel guests, the breakfast buffet is included in the room rate. We do not offer half or full board.
In addition to hotel guests, external à la carte guests are also welcome in the summer season if there are free places - we recommend reserving a table as soon as possible (online or by telephone). During Advent the restaurant is only available to guests of our hotel.
The menu contains “a little of everything that’s good” and is put together authentically and with local ingredients according to seasonal offers.
The warm colors of the interior, the dark red of the floor made of local Untersberg marble, the variable light for every mood. The chilled-jazzy sound from the music system, the pianos, musical instruments, a small library and the loose division into spatial units...:
Our lobby not only connects the hotel with the terrace, beach and lake, with the restaurant, breakfast rooms, lounge areas and meeting areas, but also the procedures of our daily hotel life from early morning to late evening and also the “inside and outside” depending on the weather and season.
Access to our sauna is on the ground floor right next to the elevator and reception, which means you can use it very easily from your room with a bathrobe. It is equipped with a Finnish sauna, infrared cabin, Kneipp foot basin, salt wall relaxation room, four-poster bed and relaxing area.
It is a small and fine sauna and, weather permitting, is suitable for relaxing and feeling good. A special experience is a sauna session followed by cooling down in the lake (even in winter) as a natural diving pool.

Opening: Spring 2024
In October 2023 we began the construction works on our new boathouse on Margaretha Beach. “The Boathouse” was designed by local architects in “modern alpine style” and can be booked for the 2024 summer season.
Here we realize our philosophy “INHALE-EXHALE” and the connection between the lake and life with another, very intensive and special aspect on a time-out experience during your stay. As well as Hermann Hesse's “Siddharta” who had deeply moving experiences in dialogue with a river, you can spend time and be inspired in dialogue with the lake.
The “Boathouse Suite” will be equipped with a king-size double bed, bathroom & toilet and a balcony. The structure is made of 100% wood, which harmoniously complements the special feeling of living and sleeping directly on the lake.
